Integrated Care for Substance Use & Eating Disorders Tools
Did you know? Substance use (SU) and eating disorders (ED) frequently occur together and can affect all ages, genders, and body shapes. 35% of individuals with SU have problems with disordered eating and body image, compared to 7% of the general population. Similarly, 28% of individuals with ED have problems with alcohol or drugs, compared to 9% of the general population.
The Provincial Eating Disorders and Substance Use Working Group has created two resources to support providers who may be working with clients experiencing both eating disorders and substance use challenges. These are practical one-pagers designed to build on what you already know and highlight your transferrable skills.
- Are you an eating disorders provider? This one-pager is for you.
- Are you a substance use provider? This one-pager is for you.
The goals of these one-pagers are to improve health provider knowledge, skills, and confidence in providing care for individuals with concurrent substance use and eating disorder issues.
