We're pleased to announce the 2026 BCCSU annual event, the BC Substance Use Care Update. This will be a one-day, virtual learning event for healthcare professionals who are providing substance use and addiction care in British Columbia.
The first half of this all-day virtual event will feature educational sessions exploring new knowledge, emerging trends, and practice-related updates. The second half will feature educational sessions showcasing innovations, experiences, and learnings from substance use care programs, practices, and initiatives across BC’s health authorities.

To support equitable access to evidence-informed substance use care education across British Columbia, registration for this year's BC Substance Use Care Update is offered at no cost. By removing financial barriers, we hope to make it easier for healthcare providers, health system partners, and others involved in substance use care to participate, learn, and connect with colleagues from across the province.
Space is limited, and advance registration is required to attend.
Who is this for?
The BC Substance Use Care Update is a learning day primarily for physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, and other clinicians working in substance use care.
However, anyone engaged in activities related to substance use care—including people with lived and living experience with substance use, family members and caregivers, harm reduction workers, recovery service operators, policy makers, and healthcare administrators—are encouraged to attend.
What will I learn?
The BC Substance Use Care Update aims to increase the reach, engagement, and implementation of the latest guidance, peer-reviewed literature, emerging practices, and consensus-based best and wise practices in addiction medicine and substance use care. It aims to provide clinicians with practical, relevant, and timely education in substance use care.
This program is certified for 6 MOC and Mainpro+ credits.
