Introduction
The Vancouver Division of Family Practice, in partnership with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) service providers across Vancouver, is working to improve the integration of support and services for patients with AUD in primary care settings. Guided by Canada’s Alcohol and Health Guidelines from the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA), this initiative aims to improve screening, increase prescribing confidence, strengthen referral pathways and enhance system integration by 2028.
Supported by funding from Shared Care, we identified patient needs and system gaps to launch a quality improvement project that enhances better integration of care and support services for individuals with AUD in our community.
This initiative is in support of the Division’s Mental Health strategy to support the mental health management in primary care.
