Job Specifics

This is an APP-funded position with no billing requirements. Call responsibilities are shared, with residents typically acting as first call. The clinic is supported by experienced, long-term Medical Office Assistants who know our patients well, and an established clinic management team. We currently have regular preceptor opportunities available on Wednesday mornings and afternoons. Long-term preceptors typically sign one-year contracts that renew annually in June. We also welcome physicians interested in joining our locum pool to become familiar with the clinic and teaching environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical supervision and teaching to medical students and family practice residents.
  • Completing “Doctor of the Day” responsibilities, including reviewing patient results and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Supporting resident-led patient encounters and, when appropriate, seeing patients directly to complete assessments or enhance learning opportunities.
  • Providing timely, constructive feedback to residents and contributing to academic teaching rounds.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and refinement of clinical workflows, team-based care models, and interprofessional education initiatives
  • Collaborating effectively within a diverse, interprofessional clinical and academic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

We welcome physicians at all stages of their careers who have a strong interest in teaching and mentorship. Applicants must be eligible for a UBC academic or clinical faculty appointment.
The successful candidate will have:

  • A Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
  • Active registration and good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in family medicine, with experience or a strong interest in interprofessional, team-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, supervise, and assess learners in clinical settings.
