Job Specifics

CAYA Health Centre is seeking 1 full-time MOA, who will be reporting to the clinic manager, clinic owners and medical director. We are currently looking for someone who is available Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. We welcome new graduates and those who are excited to learn more about trauma-informed and gender-affirming care. We strive to be a place where patients & clinicians can feel safe and respected regardless of their race, ethnicity, sex, presentation, or sexual orientation.  The MOA is responsible for providing a knowledgeable, professional and friendly experience for all clients, and providing support to our doctors and clinicians. We are looking for someone who is motivated, warm, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Answer Telephone
  • Data entry tasks
  • Educate patients about clinic policies
  • EMR task management ( Our EMR's are Oscar and Jane)
  • Ensuring daily paperwork complete
  • Escort patient to exam room
  • File & update medical charts
  • Notify patients of availability of lab results
  • Patient appointment Scheduling and maintenance
  • Process and follow up on Referrals
  • Restock supplies in patient rooms
  • Send/Respond to office mail and emails
  • Setup/clean patient rooms
  • Telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy
  • Work in reception (greet patients)
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Manage patient complaints
  • Measure and record health data and vital signs
  • Monitor and log inventory and supplies
  • Prepare patient for examination
  • Resolve issue with Referral process
  • Set up for clinical procedures (Papa, Immunization, etc)
  • Step in to support other function needed
  • Create staff schedules
  • Help assign tasks
  • Triage patients over the telephone

 

Position Requirements:

  • Experience in a family practice setting
  • Customer service focus and strong people skills
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to troubleshoot minor IT problems
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Canadian citizenship

CAYA Health Centre, is a modern clinic in the Fairview neighbourhood, is looking to grow their team. They are a hybrid walk-in/family practice that is supported by family doctors, OBGYNs, nurse practitioners, RNs, registered psychologists, registered clinical counsellors, registered dieticians, pelvic floor physiotherapists, physiotherapists, acupuncturists and massage therapists. This multidisciplinary clinic is located in City Square Mall and has 3 medical exam rooms, 1 physiotherapy rooms, 1 massage therapy room, 2 psychology/dietitian rooms, a spacious shared kitchen space, and a wheelchair-accessible washroom. The clinic has 2 providers, and 1 MOA on shift per provider.

The clinic conducts appointments both virtually and in person. The clinic is focused on providing care to women, trans, and non-binary individuals. Their services will include primary care for attached patients, and a range of essential services to patients who do not have primary care providers, such as contraception counselling, IUD insertion/removal, pap testing, STI testing, treatment for endometriosis, PCOS and hormone-related issues, mental health, and trans care.

Other Relevant information: In British Columbia, women are experiencing serious inequities that are impacting their physical, mental, and emotional well-being (BC Women’s Health Foundation, 2019). At CAYA Health Centre, they hope to fill this gap by offering services from medical doctors, nurse practitioners, psychologists, clinical counsellors, dietitians, physiotherapists, and massage therapists all in one place. They believe that this collaborative approach to healthcare will help improve the overall health outcomes of their patients, clients, and community. Their goal is to provide longitudinal primary care and episodic care to historically marginalized populations, including women, trans, and non-binary individuals. Their medical team will provide culturally competent and trauma-informed care, and be able to easily refer to other allied health practitioners as needed. They are extremely clinician-focused, and want their practitioners to have the tools and resources to succeed at their practice. They will provide monthly or quarterly training to their clinicians such as trauma-informed care, gender-affirming care, and more. Their vision is to have a collaborative approach to healthcare, and communication is of the utmost importance.
