Join us at this session where we will be further exploring the role of the PCN IPT Clinical Counsellors!
Ankyloglossia, commonly known as tongue-tie, is a complex health issue affecting many infants in British Columbia, leading to difficulties in feeding during early infancy. Families often report negative experiences related to screening, diagnosis, referral, shared decision-making, and treatment. The project team showed the feasibility of standardizing care processes and management through an evidence-informed care pathway on 17 infants (< 2 months) with ankyloglossia. This proposal seeks to engage physician partners, health authorities, and organizations.
In validating care gaps, potential solutions and in assessing willingness to support the submission of a full project proposal aimed at spreading the tongue-tie care pathway that’s customized to various settings (office, community centres, hospitals, regions) across the province). Another goal is to strengthen the existing lactation/ breast feeding support for mothers.
