A heartfelt salute to the family doctors,

The stars who shine brighter than athletes or rockers,

Our first point of contact, you keep us all healthy,

Vancouver’s pillars, I don’t know where else we

Could go for support with our medical battles,

Vital, with or without daily apples,

In terms of defense, you are the first line,

To notice the symptoms and help us to find,

The help that we need, to treat our diseases,

You motivate us to pick up the pieces,

Community leaders? You are, unmistakably,

You promote healthy living and do it sustainably,

Rightfully so, you’re all well-regarded,

We see the training you endured to get started,

The workload is massive, the visits from patients,

Continuous learning, the administration,

You’re in high demand, but despite all of this,

Whenever we need you, you still all exist,

Your clinics and practices lining our streets,

We’re grateful you live here (we know it’s not cheap),

So here’s to the effort and grace you’ve afforded,

Really, ALL of you should be awarded,

Here’s to the city that we all call home,

To health and to wellness, including your own,

This is a day to recognize that,

So proclaimed by Her Majesty several years back,

We recognize heroes throughout your ranks,

It seems insufficient, but still we say thanks!
