An excellent resource to start with for you and your staff is the ‘Security in Low Doses’ training course, offered by UBC in collaboration with Doctors of BC. It is self-paced, takes at most one hour to complete online, counts as 1 Mainpro+ credit, and is free. It is an excellent primer on how to build a culture of security and help everyone make more informed and considered decisions regarding clinic security and compliance with privacy laws and regulations. You may wish to consider the additional free resources listed below.

Protecting Patient Information – UFV & Doctors Technology Office
A course on protecting patient information aimed at MOA’s. DTO will cover the registration cost for any MOA’s, and new session dates are released on a regular basis as courses fill up.
Cybersecurity and Privacy Self-Learning Program – eHealth Centre of Excellence
Self-paced online course for healthcare professionals.
Cyber Security for Small and Medium Organizations – Canadian Center for Cyber Security
Self-paced online course, approx. 4 h.

Security Awareness Training – Fortinet
A comprehensive and ongoing training programme for employees, including phishing simulations, interactive quizzes and learning. Currently the standard program is free for organizations with 25 users or less.
