For this year’s board of directors’ elections, there were more open spots for elections than nominations received. When this occurs, a membership vote is not necessary, and the nominees will be acclaimed at the Division AGM on Oct. 16, 2025.
Existing board member up for re-election.
Priorities: Continuing work with PCN’s and involved in it’s ongoing evolution, supporting clinic owners, continue patient attachment.
Would like to continue to contribute to the board’s ongoing good work. I feel like I am just starting to understand governance and the role of the Board in Division functioning and can be more creative vs. learning processes.
I have been a family physician for 14 years in multiple, diverse settings and I am passionate about the family physician’s work at the patient level as well as the family physician’s role in the health care system.
I believe that the the Vancouver Divisions of Family Practice is in a unique and relevant position to represent the voice of family physicians in Vancouver. I want to advocate for my colleagues who are doing this work. I am also passionate about engaging colleagues to decrease isolation and to build a sense of community by breaking down silos through meaningful conversation and action.
Currently, I am a board member of the Vancouver Divisions of Family Practice. At the individual level, I am able to engage with and work efficiently with colleagues to make decisions in a timely manner. I endeavor to listen first with humility when engaging with my colleagues, so that I can understand the different challenges that my colleagues in diverse workplace environments face within the same BC health care system. From a systems level perspective, I am aware that it is a priority to engage with and establish relationships with partner organizations to achieve meaningful outcomes.
I am seeking re-election to the Vancouver Division of Family Practice Board of Directors, with the hope of continuing to serve as Board Chair. It has been a privilege to serve in this role over the past two years. When I first stepped into the position, I was uncertain about the responsibilities, but I have come to truly value the work of governance and service. Supporting my colleagues and contributing to the strength of our Division has become a rewarding part of my professional life, and I would be honoured to continue this work.
I have practiced longitudinal family medicine in East Vancouver since 2015, providing comprehensive, patient-centered care. Alongside my clinical practice, I have taught UBC medical students, worked in youth clinics through VCH, and provided care in long-term care facilities. These experiences have given me a broad perspective on the many ways family doctors serve their communities and the challenges we face.
Since joining the Division Board in 2020 and becoming Chair in 2023, I have gained valuable governance and leadership experience. As Chair, I have supported and guided board directors, ensuring diverse member perspectives are reflected in our decisions. I have collaborated closely with our Executive Director and operations leadership to align board strategy with implementation. I have also strengthened relationships with local health authority partners, as well as regional and provincial leaders, so that the voices of Vancouver family doctors are heard at higher system tables. I completed the FPSC Leadership and Management Development Program and previously served as Medical Director for a large health authority–run long-term care facility. In 2024, I became the VCH regional representative to FPSC. Each of these roles has deepened my understanding of governance, sharpened my collaborative skills, and reinforced my commitment to elevating the voices of family doctors.
Looking ahead, I believe the Division’s top priorities should be:
1. Member Services & Engagement – Engage more members across practice styles and contexts to better understand needs and ensure strategies bring value.
2. Patient Medical Home Support – Strong, sustainable clinical homes are the foundation of family practice. Supporting family doctors with resources and infrastructure is essential.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration – Strong relationships with system partners allow us to amplify the voices of family doctors and influence positive system change.
I care deeply about creating a health system that treats people with fairness and respect. That means listening with humility, being open to perspectives different from my own, and supporting efforts that make care more accessible and compassionate for everyone.
While I am a family doctor first, serving on the Board has enriched my professional life in meaningful ways. I would be proud to continue this work on behalf of our members.
It has been an honour to serve on the Vancouver Divisions’ Board for the past 2 years and it would be a great privilege to be able to continue this work. In my role as a Convenor of a PCN Steering Committee, I was able to help facilitate significant change within the local PCN community. I enjoy being a part of positive change in primary care within Vancouver, supporting Divisions’ members, and collaborating with stakeholders. My interests include women’s health, mental health and substance use, elder care, and teaching. I would greatly appreciate the oppourtunity to continue as a board member in order to serve Vancouver Family Doctors and patients.
