Past Events Summaries
On November 5th, 2024, the Vancouver Division held its first MOA Networking Forum. 96 MOAs from Vancouver-based primary care clinics attended the event. The event allowed MOAs to connect with one another, be further engaged, and allowed us to show our appreciation to MOAs who work tirelessly to support their patients and providers. The evaluation summary from the event revealed that 100% of respondents would attend another event in the future.
The second annual MOA networking event was held on November 25th, 2025. Seventy guests, including MOAs, Clinic Managers, and partner organizations (SWITCHBC and DoBC Practice Support Coaches), attended the event, which celebrated clinic staff across Vancouver and the accomplishments of the Vancouver MOA Network over the past year. These accomplishments included the launch of an MOA Peer Platform on WhatsApp and an MOA Education Series. 96% of guests reported wanting to attend a similar event in the future.
Over the past few years the Vancouver Division has been celebrating MOA Appreciation Day each Fall. This is an opportunity to acknowledge the vital role MOAs play in the community and conduct a quick pulse check to understand the unique needs of clinic staff.
MOA Education Session Summaries
The first Vancouver Division MOA Education Session focused on reconciling EMR patient panels with the Patient Attachment System (PAS). Hosted by the Practice Support Program & Health Technology Coaches at Doctors of BC, the session provided an overview of pulling an active patient list from the EMR and the PAS panel registry, followed by a live demonstration of utilizing the Reconciliation Tool to reconcile the two lists. 90% of attendees found the session valuable, and all reported wanting to attend future sessions.
The session was held across two days to cover four commonly used EMRs (OSCAR, Juno, MedAccess, & CHR).
The second MOA Education Session focused on Mastering BC LFP Billing which was a topic many of our MOA expressed facing difficulties with. Hosted by DoctorCare, the session provided an overview of using general billing codes in frequently seen scenarios, how to troubleshoot common problems, and helpful tips and tricks for navigating LFP billing. 89% of attendees said they can apply the session’s knowledge to their work, and all would recommend these sessions it to colleagues.
Session Materials
The third MOA Education Session focused on patient de-escalation and communication techniques. Hosted in partnership with the PSP Team Based Care Coaches, the session covered how to communicate with a patient centered lens, a variety of de-escalation techniques and how to practice active listening. 91% of attendees said that they can apply this session’s knowledge to their work, and all would attend future sessions.
